With over 60 years experience, Alco Construction Co. has consistently maintained a reputation for high-quality new home construction and remodeling in Chicago from clients and peers. Abram Szwajger founded Alco Construction Co. in 1963. Abram’s original mission was to bring his European craftsmanship and individualized service to clients in Chicago. Abram’s vision and standards have been passed down to a third generation of family ownership, run by daughter Yolanda Schachter and grandson, Lyle Schachter.
Jan is the Senior Supervisor at Alco Construction Co. Born in Poland, Jan started in commercial and home construction alongside his father in a brick factory at the tender age of nine. He learned the construction trade and European craftsmanship in technical school, and applied his knowledge to his first construction project – when he built his first home in Poland at the age of 19. Soon after his arrival in the United States in 1984, Jan joined Alco Construction Co. For the past 34 years, Jan has brought a vast array of knowledge, experience, hands-on craftsmanship, and a strong reputation of quality to each jobsite under his supervision.
